PITTSBURGH (GSM) – Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Joe Haden won the Pro Football Writers Association’s Chief Award. He gave remarks to the media December 23, 2018 as the player who “best exemplifies the spirit of cooperative with the media that Art Rooney Sr. was so well-known for.”

PITTSBURGH (GSM) — Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster left practice with a groin injury this week. He intends on playing against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, despite being listed as questionable.
In head coach Mike Tomlin’s weekly press conference, Brian Cook asked about two young wideouts who could also be worked into the mix this weekend, after their performance on Dec. 16 against the New England Patriots.
PITTSBURGH – The Steelers were victorious in the wake of tragedy.
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin, although proud of his team’s 33-18 victory against the Browns Sunday, started his opening remarks referencing the shooting at Tree of Life synagogue where 11 people lost their lives over the weekend. A resident of the Squirrel Hill community himself he said the massacre hit close to home.
Let me start by representing our organization and saying that our hearts go out to the victims of yesterday’s shooting, the Squirrel Hill community and the community of Pittsburgh at large. I am a member of the Squirrel Hill community, personally, and words cannot express how we feel as members of this community. We are prayerful.
As for the game, Running back James Conner rushed for 146 yards and two touchdowns to help his team seal the win. Tomlin, who watched Conner play at Pitt, not surprised by what he can do. “I had a front row seat for his college exploits,” Tomlin Said. “Not that we’re surprised by his talents or his play demeanor or his displays of will. It’s pretty impressive.”
Conner, humble in his approach, says he loves football and will do what it takes to win. “I’m just doing what I love to do. I’m trying to be in the right sport for Ben in the check-downs [and] trying to put the ball in the right spots in the run game.”
In what some are calling a blowout, offensive lineman Ramon foster says even though the score was high, Their AFC North rival has improved over time. “They are a really good team. They’re not the Browns of old. They’ve got a lot of high picks. They’ve got guys who understand how to play the game a little bit better.”
The Steelers head to Baltimore this weekend to face the Ravens on November 4. The Ravens lost to the Carolina Panthers 36-21.
PITTSBURGH (GSM) – The Steelers put the game against the Falcons out of reach early and had a field day at Heinz Field.
Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger completed 19 of 29 passes for 250 yards and three touchdowns, two of which were to wide receiver Antonio Brown. JuJu Smith-Schuster (pictured above) also caught a strike, helping to put the game in the bag.
Running back James Conner rushed for 110 yards and scored 2 touchdowns of his own.
Next week, the Steelers travel to Cincinnati to face their AFC North rival Bengals.
PITTSBURGH (GSM) – The Steelers struck early via a 27-yard pass from Ben Roethlisberger to wide out Martavis Bryant for the game’s first touchdown. The final score was 26-9 in a one sided game that helped set the tone in the 2017 season’s second game.
Roethlisberger’s stats: 23-35, 243 YDS, 2 TD. He spread the ball effectively, connecting with 6 receivers.
Wideout JuJu Smith-Schuster was on the receiving end of Roethlisberger’s second touchdown pass in the second quarter, moments before the end of the first half.
Le’Veon Bell was held to only 87 yards rushing on 27 attempts. However, his performance helped move the clock as the Steelers controlled the time of possession (34:22) throughout the game.
Pittsburgh racked up 2 sacks on defense holding Vikings quarterback Case Keenum to only 167 yards passing on 37 attempts.
