PITTSBURGH (GSM) — The Steelers are currently sitting at .500 with a record of 4-4 so far on the season and are in second place in the AFC North behind the Baltimore Ravens to handed the Patriots their first loss of the season. As for the Steelers, however, they defeated the Indianapolis Colts Sunday 26-24 at Heinz Field.
Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri missed a 43-yard kick which could have turn the tides of the game. A man of a few words after the game, “I just missed it. I have to do better than that. Just pulled it left.”
In his post game press conference, Steelers Head coach Mike Tomlin is happy about his team’s victory, however saying there is more work to be done to continue winning. “It is great to get a win versus a winning team. That team had been in a bunch of close games and won a lot of them. It’s good when you can be in a game against a team that is used to winning in close games and pull it out, so we are thankful for that. We have some things to fix, obviously, red zone execution and so forth.” Tomlin said, “But we will address it and address it with the win. It is good to be .500 at the turn like we talked about early in the week given where we have come from. It’s going to still be a while. We will work forever trying to get that September stench off of us, but that is life in this thing, and I appreciate the effort and fight. It is good to be sitting at 4-4.”
Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, has played lights out since joining the Steelers in week 3 of the 2019 season. Since that time, he has 4 interceptions, one of which he took 96 yards for a touchdown Sunday against the Colts. “I was just reading the quarterback. He looked right first, then he looked hard left, shoulders turned and everything, so I just started drifting that way. He let go of the ball and I went and got it.”

Linebacker Budd Dupree was also instrumental in the success of the defensive stand with a forced fumble and 2 sacks. Both he and TJ Watt had big plays for losses. Watt recorded 1 and a half sacks and says he and Dupree are working well together as a linebacker tandem.
Next up, the Steelers host the 5-3 Los Angeles Rams who sit at 3rd place in the NFC West behind the unbeaten 49ers and Seahawks, both of whom beat the Steelers this season.

PITTSBURGH (GSM) — 2-game winning streak. The Pittsburgh Steelers have won 2 straight after beating the winless Miami Dolphins at Heinz Field on Monday Night. At first, it appeared as though the game would be out of reach for the Steelers early when Miami put up 14 points in the first quarter.

Quarterback Mason Rudolph in his first game back following a concussion in week 5, had a slow start appearing out of sorts. That all changed throughout the course of the game when Pittsburgh scored 27 unanswered points. Rudolph acknowledges the shortcomings but proud of the outcome. “I thought we came out a little slow, but we kept fighting,” Rudolph said, “We have a lot of leadership in the offensive line, on our team in general. Guys are never going to shy away from competition or shy away going back out there with a positive attitude and an outlook, just because of an interception, or any turnover. We’re a very hard nose group, and we kept fighting.”

Head coach Mike Tomlin had praise for his team’s performance, “A lot of congratulations to go around. I thought a significant element of it is we won the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball, offense and defense. When you are doing that as the game wears on, it has a chance to be more significant.” Tomlin said, “We were in manageable third downs, we were able to possess the ball, we were able to put them in some unfavorable third downs. That is how it kind of unfolded. It wasn’t the fluid start we were looking for, but you don’t always get what you want.”

Steelers cornerback Minkah Fitzpatrick, who was acquired from the Dolphins this season in exchange for a 2020 first round pick, had two interceptions in the game.
The Steelers have two more consecutive home games. Next up, the Indianapolis Colts who are at 5-2 and in 1st place in the AFC South, are coming off of a win against the Denver Broncos, will see action against the Steelers on Sunday.

(GSM) — Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes left the week 7 matchup against the Denver Broncos last Thursday. A dislocated kneecap left him sidelined for the rest of the game and the initial reports were grim.
Doctors evaluated the injury and the MRI on Friday disclosed no significant ligament damage. According to Kansas City Star’s Herbie Teope, Mahomes is “progressing nicely.” At the moment, there is no real time table on his return.

Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid said in a press conference, “There isn’t a set time. I don’t think you can go with a set timeline with this injury. We’re going to just see,” Reid said, “He goes 100 mph. It’s important that he listens to the doctors and the trainers and that he continues to work hard at the same time and get himself ready to go. He’s doing all the things that he can possibly do.”
Despite his injury, Mahomes has remained positive and via social media and congratulated his teammates on the 30-6 win over Denver. The floodgates opened around Twitter in support of Mahomes who was in the running towards a back-to-back all-pro season.

PITTSBURGH (GSM) — According to Pennsylvania State Police, Steelers outside linebacker Anthony Chickillo was released on $10,000 bail after being charged with criminal mischief, simple assault and harassment.
An alleged physical altercation occurred with Chickillo and his long-time girlfriend at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort’s Lady Luck Casino. Reports say the altercation became physical after the couple entered their hotel room.
Chickillo was barred from entering the Steelers’ facility Monday pending an investigation on the matter.
Steelers spokesperson Burt Lauten said in a statement, “He has been instructed to not be in the building today as we continue to gather more information and work with the NFL Office.”

PITTSBURGH (GSM) – The Pittsburgh Steelers announced that quarterback Mason Rudolph has been cleared to play after a concussion he suffered during the matchup against the Baltimore Ravens on Oct 6..
The team’s spokesperson Burt Lauden said via Twitter that, ” Rudolph was cleared by an independent neurological consultant to fully return to action.”
The Miami Dolphins will visit Pittsburgh on Oct 28 on Monday Night Football.
This afternoon #Steelers QB Mason Rudolph was cleared by an independent neurological consultant to fully return to action following the team’s bye weekend. Rudolph is no longer in the concussion protocol.
